On March 31, 2000 Fernandes Law Offices opened in Suite 112 at 111 Riverside Drive East, Windsor, Ontario. In the beginning Maria did everything herself, from meeting with clients to producing and filing documents with the Courthouse, and finally appearing in Court and doing Trials. From the beginning Fernandes Law Offices has always kept the best interests of its clients as their guiding principle.
In 2001 a Family Law assistant was hired to help service the increasing number of family law clients. Fernandes Law Offices is a full service family law firm. We handle all aspects of family law, from Prenuptial Agreements to Divorces, and everything in between. That same year an Immigration assistant was added to the firm to handle the influx of clients coming from all over the world.
In November of 2004 the office was expanded into Suite 111 to double its size to better service the ever increasing number of clients.
Over 20 Years Experience
MARIA FERNANDES Bsc.N, B.Ed, LLB
Maria has been practicing law for over 20 years. She first received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 1993 from the University of Windsor. While working as a nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor and several hospitals in Michigan, she got her Teaching Degree, also from the University of Windsor. Finally, she obtained her Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Windsor Law School and was called to the Bar in February of 2000.
Maria is well versed in both Family Law and Immigration Law. Her years of experience in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, as well as the Ontario Court of Appeal, has given her the know-how to be able to properly defend her clients’ interests.
